REMINDER: Every GOP #AZSen Candidate is Running to Rip Away the Reproductive Rights of Arizonans
PHOENIX — Earlier this year, we broke down the GOP Senate primary candidates’ war on reproductive rights — but in the wake of the reported SCOTUS draft decision overturning Roe v. Wade, it’s worth outlining just how restrictive and regressive their views are when it comes to Arizonans’ fundamental rights.
The candidates’ extremist positions on abortion access, health care, and personal freedoms extend far beyond overturning Roe v. Wade and its fifty years of legal precedent:
- Mark Brnovich, who, as AG, used his official office to push his personal political agenda and tried to criminalize providing reproductive health care, is running to take his anti-choice agenda nationwide.
- Blake Masters advocates for a federal ban on abortion, saying the federal government “has a role to play” in limiting states’ rights to legislate on the issue and encouraged fellow Republicans to “go on offense.”
- Jim Lamon explicitly promised to bring his personal anti-choice views with him to Washington, arguing that “we owe [it] to our fellow Americans” to restrict access to abortion care without exception.
What’s more: As news broke that the rights of millions of Arizonans were at risk, every single GOP Senate primary candidate celebrated.
“Mark Brnovich, Blake Masters, and Jim Lamon’s cruel, far-right plans to end abortion access, birth control, and access to women’s health care prove these candidates have no business representing Arizona in the Senate — and these out-of-touch positions are exactly why whoever makes it out of this bruising primary is going to lose in the fall,” said ADP spokesperson Hannah Goss. “It’s simple: Arizonans want a Senator who is going to protect their rights, not rip them away.”
