OUT OF TOUCH MUCH?: Jim Lamon Edition
PHOENIX — This week, we’re spotlighting the GOP Senate primary candidates, breaking down their most out-of-touch policy positions, and outlining just how unfit they are to represent Arizonans in the U.S. Senate.
After reviewing Blake Masters’ MAGA agenda, now we’re turning to Utah resident and cowboy cosplayer, Jim Lamon.
Known for buying his friends, posing as a fake elector, and employing a phony populist shtick on the campaign trail, the out of touch businessman is pouring millions of his own dollars to buy Arizona’s Senate seat to implement his out of step agenda:
- Lamon is openly running to privatize Social Security and raise the retirement age — a plan that would be devastating for the 1.3 million seniors who call Arizona home.
- Lamon condemned congressional COVID relief spending to support struggling small businesses during the pandemic, but when it came to his own bottom line, he readily accepted $2.6 million in federal loans.
- Lamon called the GOP plan to hike taxes on up to fifty percent of Americans “pretty good stuff” and even said his own plan has “a whole lot of similarities.”
- Lamon promised to bring his personal anti-abortion views with him to Washington, arguing that “we owe [it] to our fellow Americans” to severely restrict access to abortion care, even in cases of rape or incest.
- Lamon — desperate to catch the attention of Donald Trump — constantly touts his funding of the Maricopa County scam “audit” that cost Arizona taxpayers millions, boasts his participation in the fake elector scheme, and continues to spread the former president’s baseless lies around the 2020 election.
“Jim Lamon crossed state lines to launch a Senate bid in Arizona, so he can try and buy his way to Washington while completely ignoring the very same Arizona voters he is running to represent,” said ADP spokesperson Hannah Goss. “Lamon is an out-of-touch out-of-stater and continues to prove how little he knows about Arizona — and that’s exactly why voters will soundly reject him come Election Day.
