ICYMI: Blake Masters Begs for More Cash, His Billionaire Benefactor Delivers

PHOENIX — HOW IT STARTED: On the campaign trail, Blake Masters — who has (so far) failed to break through this wide-open GOP Senate primary field — has begged his billionaire Big Tech benefactor Peter Thiel for more money to fund his campaign.

  • “He’s put $10 million, not into my campaign, that would be very illegal. So a super PAC.”
  • “I’m not allowed to ask Peter for more money. That’s literally illegal, but I hope Peter’s watching the race. I hope he does put in more money, you know, like I need it, and I’m not shy about saying so.”
  • “Some people want to beat me up for this and like, hey, if you know any other America First billionaires that want to invest in the Arizona Senate race, send them my way.”
  • “It’s like, I wish that the Republican billionaire class was more generous because we need them.”

HOW IT’S GOING: Yesterday, Peter Thiel answered Masters’ desperate cries for help, giving his “protégé,” puppet, and promoter another $3.5 million and bringing his total investment to $13.5 million.
