Blake Breakdown: A Week Masters Wants to Scrub From His Memory
PHOENIX — Welcome to this week’s edition of the ‘Blake Breakdown’ — a weekly roundup of the latest news on Blake Masters, the “fringe,” “extreme,” and “dangerous” Republican nominee for U.S. Senate.
Known for his divisive rhetoric, far-right positions, and Twitter temper tantrums, Masters is a risk Arizonans cannot afford. From now until November 8th, the Arizona Democratic Party’s ‘Blake Breakdown’ is here to help you keep track of the latest reason why he has no business serving in the U.S. Senate.
Here’s what you missed last week:
I DON’T WANT NO SCRUBS: “So desperate lol.” Last week, Blake Masters woke up, realized just how unpopular his support for a nationwide abortion ban is, and got caught scrubbing his campaign website in an embarrassing attempt to erase his far-right stance. Too bad for Blake, no amount of gaslighting can erase hours of video and dozens of news stories documenting his true beliefs — the worst of which is support for a law that could jail women for seeking life-saving care.
A SCRUB IS A GUY WHO CAN’T GET NO LOVE FROM ME: It’s almost like nothing about this man is electable? Apparently, Masters didn’t stop at abortion and scrubbed several other disqualifying beliefs from his campaign website in an effort to become a more “quality” candidate. In his attempted Masters MakeoverTM pt. II, Masters erased false claims about the 2020 election, blatant promotion of the “Great Replacement theory,” and a quip about the January 6th attack on the Capitol. A website is temporary, but Dangerous Blake is forever.
THE WORST KIND OF TRIPLE THREAT: Last weekend, Blake managed to squeeze a dose of racism, sexism, and homophobia into a single sentence when he suggested that diversity at the Federal Reserve is to blame for U.S. economic challenges. As if that weren’t reprehensible enough, Masters doubled down with an ugly Twitter rant, which gave us déjà vu to when he called Tucson Mayor Regina Romero “low-IQ.” To all of this, we say “Ew, Blake.”
CRUSHING DREAMS, THE MASTERS WAY: On Wednesday, Masters doubled down on his unpopular belief that DACA recipients should never be able to become citizens. Masters first touted his hardline, “No citizenship for Dreamers” stance at a primary debate and is sticking to that off-pitch tune, even though a vast majority of Arizonans, including Republicans, support a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients. Of course, that’s nothing new for Blake, whose entire dangerous agenda is out of touch with Arizonans.
THE VENTURE CAPITALIST NO ONE IS WILLING TO INVEST IN: Oh the irony of a billionaire-backed tech bro being short on cash…Since crawling out of his primary, Blake Masters’ fundraising woes have only intensified as National Republicans have slowly realized just how weak of a candidate he is. Now Peter Thiel and Mitch McConnell are not so privately sparring over who has to fit the bill, fund Masters’ operation, and clean up the mess that Trump left in the desert. Feels like a them problem…
EVERYBODY HATES BLAKE: For over a year, we’ve been warning y’all about just how dangerous Masters is, but now it’s clear even Republicans can’t stand the guy. Adam Kinzinger’s Sunday show take down was just one instance, but these days Republicans of every walk of life are denouncing Blake and his problematic views.
