What Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Means for Phoenix, America’s Fastest-Growing City
PHOENIX — Over the last ten years, the city of Phoenix has grown exponentially as businesses and residents alike come from all over to make the Valley home. Arizona labor leaders and elected officials have heralded President Joe Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law as key to maintaining that growth and creating job opportunities for years to come.
A long-time supporter of the historic legislation, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego has said that the legislation will give Arizona a “mighty push forward” and allow us to “plan for Phoenix’s vibrant future.”
President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Package will invest in Arizona’s cities by:
Expanding public transit projects:
- As Phoenix continues to grow, sustainable public transit projects like the light rail boost our local economy, draw employers, and attract future residents.
- The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will make the largest-ever federal investment in public transit with $884 million to fund Arizona’s innovative public transportation projects.
Investing in our airports:
- Airport improvement projects will make Arizona an even more attractive travel destination, allow us to lead on modern aviation, and support future growth.
- The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is expected to deliver over $200 million for Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport over the next five years.
Connecting Maricopa County like never before:
- Investing in our highway systems will connect the over four million residents across America’s fastest-growing county like never before and with substantial economic benefits for local communities.
- The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will deliver $5 billion to invest in Arizona’s roadways and help residents get to work and school with a focus on climate change mitigation, resilience, equity, and safety for all users.
