TODAY: Arizona Leaders Call on GOP Senate Candidates to Meet the Mark Kelly Standard of Good Government

PHOENIX — TODAY at 12:00 pm local time, Senate Democratic Leader Rebecca Rios, House Democratic Leader Reginald Bolding, and Rev. Katie Sexton-Wood will hold a press conference to highlight the need to get money out of politics and make government more transparent.

Since he took office, Senator Mark Kelly has taken actionable steps to fix our government so that it works for Arizonans, not corporate special interests.

Meanwhile, Republicans in the Senate primary have spent this race relying on Super PAC support and continuing to demonstrate real conflicts of interest — which raises the question, if they really want to represent Arizonans, will they meet Senator Kelly’s commitment to serving them?
RSVP: Please RSVP here for location details.

WHAT: Press conference to call on GOP Senate primary candidates to meet the Mark Kelly standard of good government.
WHEN: Thursday, February 3rd at 12:00 – 12:30 pm MST
WHO:

  • Senate Democratic Leader Rebecca Rios (LD-27)
  • House Democratic Leader Reginald Bolding (LD-27)
  • Interfaith Organizer Rev. Katie Sexton-Wood

BACKGROUND:

  • Senator Mark Kelly is committed to representing the interests of Arizona families and making government work for them, not corporate special interests. He is the only member in all of Congress — the U.S. House or the Senate — to refuse corporate PAC money, publish his Senate schedule, and put his assets into Qualified Blind Trusts.
  • Meanwhile, GOP Senate primary candidates are fighting it out in what is already a messy, chaotic, and expensive contest.
    • Jim Lamon’s entire career as a professional political donor relies on him buying influence in politics.
    • California tech bro Blake Masters is being propped up by Peter Thiel’s $10 million Super PAC.
    • Mark Brnovich has refused to reject corporate PAC money and has a long record of putting his donors and personal political ambitions over his constituents.
