Statement from Arizona Democratic Party Chair Yolanda Bejarano on Texas Ruling Limiting Reproductive Freedom

PHOENIX – This morning, Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party, Yolanda Bejarano released the following statement after a Trump-appointed federal judge undermined the ability of the FDA to approve safe and effective medications – and endangered the lives of patients across the United States needing access to Mifepristone. 

“Americans and Arizonans have made their voices heard loud and clear when it comes to protecting our reproductive freedoms and the critical relationships between providers and patients. But yet again, the Republican Party is inserting politics between patients and doctors. This ruling represents another step in the GOP’s ultimate goal at both the state and national levels—eliminating access to abortion for all women in every state. But Democrats will not stand for it. I am grateful that under the Biden Administration, the Department of Justice has already announced that they will be appealing the court’s decision and that Mifepristone continues to be available and approved for the time being. In Arizona, Democrats will continue to fight in lockstep to defend reproductive freedom, and ensure patients across the state have access to the care they need.”
