ROUND UP: Arizona Congressional Republicans Had a Busy Week
ARIZONA – Rather than celebrate the season of giving and fellowship, Arizona Congressional Republicans have double-downed embracing extremism and voting against Arizona values. Here’s a round-up of what Arizona Republicans have been up to this week:
- REP. ELI CRANE (AZ-02): Decorated his DC office with a despicable “holiday border patrol” theme with a sign on the door that reads “Border Patrol Elves Only” and “Have Documents Ready.”
- REP. ANDY BIGGS (AZ-05): Made an appearance on Steve Bannon’s podcast “War Room” to defend Abe Hamadeh’s recent attacks on Attorney General Kris Mayes for the indictment of two Cochise County GOP election supervisors. When asked about Hamadeh calling AG Mayes a “tyrant,” “third world dictator,” and “illegitimate”, “Rep. Biggs stated: “I appreciate what Abe Hamadeh said, and I think he’s right… this is a dangerous, dangerous precedent, and I’m actually, quite frankly, shocked that Kris Mayes would actually dare to do this.”
- REP. JUAN CISCOMANI (AZ-06): The DCCC launched a new video ad today detailing Rep. Ciscomani’s extreme anti-abortion record.
- REP. DAVID SCHWEIKERT (AZ-01): Rep. Scwheikert again went on the house floor to argue that “It’s past time Congress stops ignoring our fiscal reality” and that we need to cut Social Security and Medicare spending.
- REP. PAUL GOSAR (AZ-09): Continued to peddle COVID-19 conspiracy theories on Twitter, praising the House for recently passing his amendment to defund EcoHealth. In his tweet, he linked to a Daily Caller article that continues to peddle the conspiracy theory that COVID was manufactured in a Chinese lab.
- BONUS! Three Arizona Republicans, Lesko (AZ-08), Gosar (AZ-09), and Biggs (AZ-05) voted against expelling Representative George Santos from Congress after Santos fabricated parts of his resume, a scathing House ethics investigation and a 23-count federal indictment charging him with crimes such as wire fraud and money laundering.
