REALITY CHECK: Kari Lake Big Lie Allegiance is a Threat to Democracy
Reality:
Kari Lake is an election-denying extremist. She peddles conspiracy theories and lies about both the 2020 and 2022 elections, and has failed to provide any evidence at all to back up her unhinged claims. Lake previously said she would only accept this election’s results if she wins, and stated at a recent forum that she already concluded this election is not fair. She said she would not certify the 2024 election, after insisting we first needed to decertify the 2020 election.
Meanwhile, prominent Republican leaders across the state like Mesa Mayor John Giles are backing Katie Hobbs for governor. The Republicans for Katie Hobbs coalition is growing by the day, because Arizonans know that Hobbs is the only candidate who will work to solve the state’s biggest challenges.
BACKGROUND:
- Lake has made it clear that the economy, education, or water issues are not her top priority. Her “number one issue is election integrity” because “none of that will matter because we will never win another election.”
- Already, Kari Lake has sought to undermine this year’s election, saying the only election result she would “accept” is her own victory. Lake has pushed baseless conspiracy theories and supported a frivolous lawsuit to claim that our elections aren’t secure so long as Arizonans can vote early and ballot tabulation machines are used to count votes.
- Lake has promised that as governor, she would decertify the 2020 election.
- Lake would not certify the 2024 election after insisting we first needed to decertify the 2020 election.
