On Election Security, Kari Lake “Doesn’t Know” What She’d Fix In Our Elections
Lake Has Spent Years Falsely Claiming Elections Were Rigged and 2020 Election Stolen
PHOENIX– After spending years making false claims that our elections were stolen, rigged and unfair, Kari Lake suddenly has no idea what she would do to secure our elections when questioned during a Good morning America interview. On Friday, ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl asked Lake what she would change when it comes to Arizona election laws, to which Lake replied, “I don’t know exactly how we’ll do it.”
Lake has aggressively pushed a steady stream of election lies, consistently and falsely claiming the 2020 election was “stolen” and “corrupt,” but when pressured to show a crumb of said “proof,” Lake has zilch. Lake has also said Biden “lost the election, and he shouldn’t be in the White House.” At the GOP primary debate, Lake claimed that the right-wing and fraudulent 2020 election audit was proof the election was rigged, and defended the right-wing propaganda film, “2,000 Mules.”
In the days leading up to the primary election, Lake warned that something was going very wrong. “We’re already detecting some stealing going on,” Lake said at a campaign stop the week before the election. Hours before the polls closed, she hadn’t changed her tune, saying “If we don’t win, there’s some cheating going on. And we already know that.” After she was declared the winner however, Lake dropped all talk of fraud and never produced a single piece of evidence.
Lake has now been laying the groundwork that she won’t accept the results of her own race if she loses. In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Lake dodged when she was asked multiple times whether she would accept the results if she loses.
“Lake has made spewing election lies the cornerstone of her campaign, and we’ve lost count of how many times Lake has spewed out election lies and conspiracy theories since launching her campaign. But when push comes to shove, she actually has no concrete ideas, just more lies and conspiracy theories,” said Josselyn Berry, spokesperson for the Arizona Democratic Party.
