Let the Games Begin: Club for Growth Endorsement Heats Up the Already Hot Mess of an AZ Senate Primary 

PHOENIX — Arizona’s chaotic, nasty primary is about to get a whole lot messier thanks to a new Club for Growth Endorsement (read: financial backing) of Blake Masters.
 
This endorsement is raising the price tag of what’s already become an incredibly expensive primary. Masters of course already has $10 million in promised outside spending from his California billionaire benefactor, but Club for Growth’s support will likely help him compete with primary opponent Jim Lamon who has personally pledged to spend $50 million in this race. And of course, then there’s Mark Brnovich who leveraged his recent detente with former President Trump into an aggressive fundraising plea to Trump die-hards across the country.
 
Club for Growth is known for playing dirty in primaries — which certainly wouldn’t* be* new* in this race that still has months to go before its August primary date.
 
In response to Club for Growth’s endorsement, Masters — a California tech bro whose candidacy is only relevant thanks to his fellow tech bro boss — vowed to “end crony capitalism” and “put the market to work for American families”… and no, he didn’t see the irony there….
 
“We’re still six months away from primary day and this endorsement all but guarantees that Jim Lamon, Mark Brnovich, and Blake Masters will have to spend big against each other to eke out a win in this combative, expensive, and chaotic race,” said ADP spokesperson Hannah Goss. “Masters is surely celebrating there’s at least one endorsement Jim Lamon couldn’t buy — but make no mistake, whoever manages to make it out of this wide-open primary will do so without any sort of focus on the issues Arizonans actually care about or a united party standing behind them.”
