Kari Lake Thinks Calling Latinos “Hard Core Criminals” and “Rapists” is Winning Strategy in Arizona

PHOENIX– Kari Lake is again attacking Latinos, calling them “hard core criminals,” “murderers” and “terrorists” during an interview on Fox News, Sunday Mornings with Maria Bartiromo. This comes on the heels of Lake’s appearance at a Mesa church earlier in September where she said, “I’m gonna just repeat something President Trump said a long time ago and it got him in a lot of trouble,” Lake said. “They are bringing drugs. They are bringing crime, and they are rapists, and that’s who’s coming across our border. That’s a fact.”

An Arizona Republic columnist has referred to Lake’s tactics as a, “racist political campaign dog whistle.”  A new memo from Equis Research titled “Latino Voters in Limbo – A Midterm Update,” states that Republicans have so far failed to win over Latino voters, and “If Republicans want to claim that a realignment is underway, they are going to need to demonstrate it in the high-stakes environments of Nevada and Arizona, where all sides are competing for Latino voters.” It does not seem like Kari Lake is taking note.

“Latinos make up over a third of our state and deserve a governor who will prioritize their needs. It’s difficult to see how Kari Lake thinks she’ll win over Arizona Latino voters when she refers to them as hard core criminals and rapists who are bringing drugs and crime,” said Josselyn Berry, spokesperson for the Arizona Democratic Party. “But it’s clear she’s more focused on these attacks than offering any real or meaningful solutions to move Arizona forward.  For her part, Karie Hobbs has rolled out a Latinos for Katie Coalition and is advertising on Spanish-language TV and radio.”
