Kari Lake Endorses Birth Control Banner Blake Masters – Does She Support the Same Extreme Position?

PHOENIX–Fifty-seven years ago today the SCOTUS’ Griswold v. Connecticut decision affirmed Americans’ right to access contraception — and set the groundwork for cases on marriage equality, abortion access, and more. So of course, MAGA Republicans like Blake Masters want to completely ban all access to birth control, and Kari Lake has no issue endorsing a candidate with that extreme viewpoint. But the question remains – does she support the same extreme stance on birth control as her endorsee Blake Masters?

Kari Lake has always touted her far-right positions on abortion rights. Her website used to read “I am pro-life. Always have been and always will be” (although strangely, she’s changed it in recent weeks). But no doubt, while facing a competitive primary, Lake will try to keep up with the other MAGA candidates and their anti-choice rhetoric.

With a decision on Roe v Wade looming, it’s critical to recall the radical stances on abortion of the entire GOP field for Arizona governor. Kari Lake, Karrin Taylor Robson and Matt Salmon all support a Texas-style abortion ban in Arizona. Lake vehemently opposes exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the woman and has called abortion the “ultimate sin.” Robson has vowed to make Arizona the most anti-choice state in the country, and Salmon once attempted to bribe a 14-year-old girl out of getting an abortion after she was raped.

But these anti-choice, anti-freedom views are out of touch with the overwhelming majority of Americans who support the right to abortion. In fact, support for abortion has reached new highs with Americans.
