IN HIS OWN WORDS: Where Blake Masters Stands on Abortion, Social Security 

PHOENIX — Now that Blake Masters has squeaked out a GOP Senate primary victory, he’s attempting a massive pivot, lying about his well-publicized “fringe,” “extreme,” and even “dangerous” policy positions in an attempt to appeal to a general election electorate.

The only problem (for him): We’re ready to call him out every step of the way. With that in mind, we thought we’d start this post-primary week by featuring Masters’ out-of-touch positions on Social Security and abortion. See below for a rundown — all in his own words and on video, to help you keep track as he walks them back.

On Social Security: Masters has called to privatize the program, saying we should “cut the knot” on benefits and that he is “not going to receive Social Security.”

On Abortion: Masters has called for a nationwide abortion ban without exceptions for rape or incest, urging Republicans to “go on offense” and institute a federal personhood law, which would completely end access to abortion in the United States and potentially jail women.

“Over the next three months, Masters will spin his agenda and lie about his plans to completely ban abortion and privatize Social Security, all in a desperate attempt to trick Arizonans into electing him. Unfortunately for Blake Masters, we’ve got the receipts direct to camera, and when he loses in November, he’ll have no one to blame but himself,” said ADP spokesperson Hannah Goss.
