Donald Trump Looks to Rip Away Affordable Health Care From Arizonans With Preexisting Conditions
Today, Arizona Democratic Party Chair Yolanda Bejarano released the following statement in response to Donald Trump threatening to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which could raise health care costs and jeopardize coverage for millions of Arizonans, including 1,145,000 with preexisting conditions.
“Donald Trump is running on an agenda to make America sicker – doubling down on his push to terminate the Affordable Care Act that has provided 929,942 Arizonans with lifesaving health care for over a decade. Trump’s vision for Arizona is to kick people off their insurance, skyrocket health care costs, and roll back President Biden’s work to make prescription drugs more affordable. While Republicans continue trying to gut lifesaving policies, Democrats and President Biden are fighting to make healthcare more affordable and accessible for Arizonans and all Americans,” said Arizona Democratic Party chair.
Here’s a look at what the Affordable Care Act has delivered:
- Insured more than 40 million Americans
- Lowered costs for families
- Required insurance companies to cover Americans with preexisting conditions
- Allowed young people under 26 to stay on their parents’ insurance plan
- Ended lifetime caps on essential care a person can receive
- Stopped women from having to pay more for coverage simply because of their gender.
