Congressional Corral: Taking “Stock” of Republicans Before the Holidays

ARIZONA- It’s time to get into the Congressional Corral spirit! It’s Friday, so here’s a roundup (corral) of what Arizona Republicans have been up to.

  • David Schweikert (AZ-01): This week, Rep. Schweikert had a scooby doo reveal of where his “ozempic can lower the national debt” talking point came from: Big Pharma. Novo Nordisk, a maker of an Ozempic-like drug, is the second largest contributor to his reelection campaign’s third quarter haul – giving $5,000 to Schweikert’s PAC.
  • Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06): In an interview with 13 News, Rep. Ciscomani spews anti-asylum rhetoric–calling for changes in the asylum process that aligns with extreme Senate Republicans proposals.
  • Paul Gosar (AZ-09): Last week, Rep. Gosar asked his Congressional newsletter readers whether Congress should investigate the January 6th Committee. After the results from the poll came back, Rep. Gosar said: “I’ve got my marching orders!
  • Eli Crane (AZ-02): Rather than spreading holiday cheer, Rep. Crane used his Twitter to promote conspiracies about immigrants.
  • Andy Biggs (AZ-05): Rep. Andy Biggs went on Newsmax to defend Donald Trump’s dangerous comments about immigrants.
  • Debbie Lesko (AZ-08): Rep. Lesko continued to push anti-trans rhetoric by tweeting out a Fox News article about trans women in sports. It’s no surprise that Lesko would amplify anti-transgender falsehoods after endorsing Ben Toma for her Congressional seat.
