Sing Along: Old Speaker Johnson had a farm (Ee i ee i io) /And on His farm he had some MAGA Republicans
ARIZONA- Arizona Republicans have been leading the herd on all things extreme MAGA in the halls of Congress this week. It’s Friday, so here’s a roundup (corral) of what Arizona Republicans have been up to.
- Andy Biggs (AZ-05): This week, Rep. Biggs voted against the Child Tax Credit expansion, a bill that lifted roughly 3 million children out of poverty during the COVID-19 pandemic. He tweeted out against the expansion bill calling it legislation that “expands welfare” and “provides tax benefits to illegal aliens.” The expansion of the Child Tax Credit is estimated to bring half a million children out of poverty.
- David Schweikert (AZ-01): Rep. Schweikert took to X this week to promote racially-charged immigration conspiracies. He suggested that immigrants seeking better lives in the U.S. are terrorists and violent criminals. Schweikert has a deplorable history of dehumanizing immigrants.
- Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06): New reporting details how Rep. Ciscomani while working for Governor Ducey oversaw Ducey’s sale of Arizona water rights to Saudi Arabia. As a Congressman, Ciscomani has accepted $4,800 in campaign contributions from a lobbyist who sold out Arizona’s water.
- Paul Gosar (AZ-09): Rep. Gosar used his Congressional newsletter to attack the Arizona Republic – targeting opinion writer EJ Montini and bragging about the size and open rate of his newsletter. In the same newsletter he calls the January 6th committee “a sham”, stands in support of Texas adding razor wire around the border, and advocates for imposing the death penalty.
- Eli Crane (AZ-02): Reporting from Politico reveals that McCarthy is planning to target the ‘Gaetz Eight’, a herd of the most extreme MAGA Republicans in Congress- Reps. Nancy Mace and Rep. Eli Crane have been identified as even bigger targets because of their vulnerable re-election campaigns.
