Biden’s Infrastructure Law to Shift Arizona’s Economy Towards A Clean Energy, Lower Carbon Emissions Future

PHOENIX –– With the passage of his historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal, President Joe Biden is on track to deliver billions in critical infrastructure funding to the state of Arizona. Not only will the funds help repair roads and bridges, and expand broadband, but it will also move our economy towards a clean energy, lower carbon emissions future by strengthening the country’s outdated energy infrastructure.

This landmark law includes opportunities to reform our climate, energy and environment programs and Arizona will play a key role in those efforts as it is set to receive $76 million over five years to support the expansion of an EV charging network in the state. Arizona will also have the opportunity to apply for the $2.5 billion in grant funding dedicated to EV charging.

The funds will also help build a network of EV chargers to facilitate long-distance travel and provide convenient charging options across Arizona. The bill invests $7.5 billion to build out the first-ever national network of EV chargers in the United States. All of these measures are critical elements in the Biden-Harris Administration’s plan to accelerate the adoption of EVs to address the climate crisis and support domestic manufacturing jobs.

“I applaud the Biden administration for their innovative solutions and life-changing investments to modernize our outdated infrastructure. These smart investments will be vital to addressing the difficult challenge of climate change, all while creating good U.S. manufacturing jobs to keep Arizona’s economy strong,” said Arizona’s Democratic Party Executive Director, Charlie Fisher. “While Democrats are hard at work to deliver a more clean and economically prosperous future for Arizonans, let’s not forget that Arizona Republicans — Reps. Gosar, Biggs, Schweikert, and Lesko — bet against Arizonans and opposed President Biden’s landmark deal. We sure are glad they failed.”
