Bad News Blake: 36 Hours of Wall-to-Wall Coverage Slams Masters for Attacking Veterans, Paying Nazis, and Calling for an “Army” to Intimidate Voters

PHOENIX — In the last 36 hours, a wave of negative press slammed into Blake Masters, exposing him as the “Nazi-adjacent,” election-denying, anti-military candidate that he is.

See below for a roundup of the three stories you need to read heading into the weekend:

Jewish Insider: Blake Masters’ campaign has had a far-right Christian nationalist on its payroll for months

  • Trapeur is, perhaps more notably, a well-connected far-right activist in Arizona who serves as chief operating officer of an extreme Christian nationalist group…Since December, Trapeur has received at least $5,250 from the Masters campaign…
  • Until recently, the group had been known as the American Populist Union, which drew national scrutiny for having planned an April event in Tempe that fell on the anniversary of Adolf Hitler’s birthday.
  • That Masters has continued to keep Trapeur on his campaign payroll, however, has largely eluded scrutiny, even as he has sought to distance himself from more prominent far-right figures who have gravitated to his campaign.

CNN: Voters report intimidation as they tried to use a ballot drop box in this key state

  • In the primary Masters said this in a campaign ad: “I think Trump won in 2020.”
  • Just last week at a political event, when asked about election integrity, Masters replied: “And a lot of people saw things that they did not like in 2020, to put it mildly. And so we’re going to have an army. We’re gonna have a lot more eyes and ears and boots on the ground this time.”

Phoenix New Times: Arizona Veterans Stump for Mark Kelly, Thump ‘Dumb and Dangerous’ Blake Masters

  • Masters, Arizona’s Republican U.S. Senate candidate who is endorsed by former President Donald Trump, could speed up that process with his incendiary comments about the military — something he brazenly defended at a televised debate earlier this month.
  • That’s why veterans across the political spectrum condemned Masters’ attack on service members…
  • Masters has insisted there’s “rot” in the military — doubling down on his previous claims that the military and veterans are “totally incompetent,” “woefully inadequate,” “piss poor,” and “embarrassing.”
