Arizona’s GOP Refuses To Do Their Job
PHOENIX — We’ve seen Arizona’s Republicans working against Arizonans’ best interests time and time again. By voting against President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law — which passed without the support of a single Arizona Republican — they were essentially voting to block approximately $348 million from Arizona’s 58 airports. It begs the question: Who are they really working for?
No thanks to the GOP’s obstructionist nature, this money will not only help improve travel to boost tourism in Arizona and help relieve supply chain back-ups affecting our country, but it will also create jobs for Arizonans. Yet, Arizona Republicans representing the districts benefiting from these funds played political games with their constituents’ livelihoods and voted against it. Here’s what they were willing to give up just to appease former President Trump.

  • Rep. David Schweikert voted NO on the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill, even though funds going to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)– the largest and closest airport to Fountain Hills– will create jobs and relieve supply chain bottlenecks in his district.
  • Rep. Andy Biggs voted NO on the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill, even though funds going to Phoenix–Mesa Gateway Airport, the closest airport to Gilbert, will greatly benefit his constituents. A vote against, was a vote against job creation and economic recovery for the people of Gilbert, Arizona.
  • Rep. Paul Gosar voted NO on the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill, even though funds going to Prescott Municipal Airport (Ernest A. Love Field) would create jobs and help build up his constituent’s pockets.
  • Rep. Debbie Lesko voted NO on the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill, even though funds going to Pleasant Valley Airport in her district would create jobs for her constituents and help relieve supply chain back-ups.
