Arizona Democratic Party Statement on President Biden’s State of the Union

PHOENIX — Today, President Biden delivered his first State of the Union address to the American people as the leader of this country. At a time of uncertainty, President Biden’s words reminded us of how far we have come since he took office. His administration has been one of many firsts, ranging from record investments into our infrastructure to a Cabinet that represents the diversity of this country. Along with Democrats in Congress, President Biden and Vice President Harris are leading Americans into the future; a future of opportunity, a future of prosperity, and a future of peace.

In his first year of office, President Biden and Democrats made strides for the American people: a record 6.6 million jobs were added to the workforce, unemployment rates since the start of the pandemic plummeted, and nearly 5 million Americans have newly gained health insurance. Finally, we have a government that reflects the values of the American people, understands our needs, and works in the best interests for all. We are still getting through the worst of a pandemic but we are seeing the effects of a strong economic plan thanks to Democratic leadership in Washington, D.C.

“What President Biden and Democrats in Congress have been able to deliver for Arizonans cannot be understated,” said Arizona Democratic Party Chair Raquel Terán. “From direct payments through the American Rescue Plan, to expanded broadband access and water security through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Arizonans have felt the support of the Biden Administration right here at home. We look forward to what is to come from such leadership and are excited to continue working for all Arizonans.”
