Arizona Democratic Party Statement on Blake Masters Entering the AZ-08 GOP Primary
ARIZONA– Today, failed U.S. Senate Candidate Blake Masters announced that he’s running in a rapidly crowding AZ-08 GOP primary. The Chairwoman of the Arizona Democratic Party Yolanda Bejarano released the following statement:
“We already know that Blake Masters has dangerous beliefs that do not align with Arizona values. Masters has a long record of extremism – like promoting a Nazi leader, comparing abortion to a ‘religious sacrifice,’ and calling to cut Social Security and Medicare. Blake Masters’ dangerous beliefs and extreme record is perfectly in line with the extreme Arizona Republican Party- they don’t represent Arizonans and they will be rejected in 2024.”
A reminder of Master’s Record:
- Blake Masters wants to strip Arizonans abortion rights. During his failed Senate run he was asked if he would support a national ban similar to an Arizona law dating back to the 1800s that “bans all abortions,” Masters said yes. Masters has called abortion rights activists “demonic” and stated that an abortion is a “religious sacrifice.”
- Blake Masters wants to cut Social Security and Medicare. During his failed Senate run Masters repeatedly called to “cut the knot” and privatize Social Security. Masters repeatedly doubled down on cutting the social programs, saying “the country would need to ‘cut the Gordian knot’ on Medicare and Social Security for citizens his age and younger.”
- Blake Masters is an election denier. During his failed Senate run Masters promoted a long list of baseless conspiracies, including Trump’s lies around the 2020 election and the suggestion that the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol was a “false flag” operation orchestrated by the FBI.
- Blake Masters has repeatedly praised the Unabomber. During his failed Senate run Masters publicly stated that he thinks “everybody should read” the Unabomber’s disturbing manifesto and suggested that he is a “good influence” and “underrated thinker” that people should “look into.”
