Arizona Democratic Party Response to Supreme Court Decision in Trump v. United States

Democracy is on the line, Arizonans are the last line of defense this November
July 1st, 2024

ARIZONA– Today, the United States Supreme Court ruled that presidents have complete immunity while fulfilling their official duties, which would prohibit Trump from being tried for inciting the January 6 insurrection. The following statement can be attributed to Arizona Democratic Party Chairwoman Yolanda Bejarano:

“Arizonans know the facts: Donald Trump inspired a violent mob to attack our nation’s capitol and attempted to subvert the results of a free and fair election on January 6th. What’s worse is during last week’s debate he refused to answer if he would accept the results of this election–  meaning he would do January 6th all over again and his far-right Supreme Court would allow him to. Trump is only becoming more unhinged and it’s up to Arizonans to protect our Democracy this November by rejecting his obsessive quest for power once and for all.”

Donald Trump is already attacking our democracy and Arioznans rights. Make no mistake: democracy is on the ballot this November:

  • Donald Trump has pledged to be a dictator on “day one.” Trump admires violent dictators, saying that ‘the tougher and meaner they are, the better I get along with them.’
  • After inspiring a violent mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6, Trump has pledged to pardon the rioters who wanted to end American democracy.
  • Donald Trump’s Project 2025 is also crafting plans that would allow him to deploy the military against American citizens under the Insurrection Act.
  • Trump is warning of a “bloodbath” if he loses in November.

Arizona Democrats are prepared to fight for our democracy by electing Democrats up and down the ballot. To learn more about key initiatives, how to vote or how to support Democrats this election cycle, please visit
