Contact: Josselyn Berry,

Welcome to All About Kari, a weekly rundown in the run-up to the general election on every radical and extreme thing Kari Lake says and does.  It can be hard to keep track of tweets, ads and interviews, so we’ve done that for you. Enjoy!

Tweet of the Week

ICYMI: Former Arizona Governor Refuses To Endorse Kari Lake–Further proof that Kari Lake is incapable of uniting the Arizona GOP was exposed last week when former Governor Jan Brewer explained how the failed TV news anchor has snubbed her. On the Gaydos and Chad Show, Brewer said that despite her efforts, she and Lake still have not met, and that she was “a little disappointed” that Lake has made no attempts to do so. She went on to say, “She (Lake) sort of indicated she didn’t really want to talk to me, or sit down and discuss some of the issues.” When asked if she was planning to endorse Lake, Brewer said, “You don’t endorse somebody that doesn’t ask for your endorsement.” This comes after Brewer laid out her terms for endorsement that Lake would have to “promise…to prioritize policy and tell the truth about elections.”

Kari Lake Criticizes Federal Loan Forgiveness. Unless It’s Hers–Kari Lake wasted no time bashing the student loan forgiveness announced last week to provide relief for student borrowers. But Lake herself benefitted from a federal loan in April 2020 as part of the federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) that has been fully forgiven. Lake and her husband’s business, ZenVideo, received a $5,600 loan from the PPP program during the pandemic. Lake then turned around and paid her husband’s business thousands of dollars for campaign work, after the company was kept  afloat thanks to the PPP loan it received.

Phoenix New Times: “Kari Lake Bashes Federal Loan Forgiveness. Unless It’s Hers” The Republican nominee for Arizona governor publicly opposed recent federal action to provide relief for student loan borrowers across the country. But she also benefited from a federal loan in April 2020 that was later forgiven as part of the Paycheck Protection Program. That’s not stopping her from likening loan forgiveness to robbery when the money is going to college students saddled with debt, instead of her husband’s video production company that does work for her political campaign. It’s a classic case of rules for thee but not for me.

Arizona Republic: “How Kari Lake gulped cash from the ‘McCain swamp’” After all that tough talk it might come as a surprise to Lake’s supporters that her plan to drain that notorious government swamp seems to have involved dipping the family bucket into the murky waters and carrying home a sloshy pail of cash. Yet her husband got cash from the PPP. After Lake joined the chorus of Republican hypocrites griping about President Joe Biden’s student debt relief program it was pointed out in a Phoenix New Times article that Lake’s husband had a loan of $5,663 forgiven under the government’s Paycheck Protection Program.

Op-Ed: Will Kari Lake Enforce A Ban On Nearly All Abortions? Voters Deserve To Know–Kari Lake has referred to abortion as “the ultimate sin.” Doctors find this label not just wrong, but dangerous. We took an oath to do no harm, and assigning this sort of stigma to standard health care is harmful, at best. We know our patients, we listen to them, and we trust them to make the right decisions for themselves and their health.

Kari Lake’s Anti-Abortion Reported Tweet “Creeped Out” Some Arizona Voters–“Kari Lake is all but telling women “who” they must be— and, this, according to God?—are you kidding me?” said 46-year old Phoenix business woman, Candace Montague. “This is just creepy stuff.”

Op-Ed: Kari Lake Has Formed a ‘Jewish Voices’ Coalition? You Can’t Make This Stuff Up–Fresh off of endorsing – but never quite getting around to publicly renouncing – a gay bashing antisemite who believes that Jews are evidence that “evil exists”, Kari Lake has announced her “Jewish Voices for Kari” coalition.
