Kari Lake Can’t Sweep Her Radical Positions on Abortion Under the Rug–In a recent New York Times profile, Kari Lake was caught trying to lie about her stance on abortion. When asked about Arizona’s 1901 abortion ban, which on the campaign trail she calls “a great law,” Lake replied, “At the time, I wasn’t even aware that we have this law on the books. So I don’t think that’s ever going to have to come up.” Except that’s not true at all. In fact, Lake knew that abortion ban well enough to memorize the statute number in a June 24th interview with the Conservative Circus.This isn’t even the first time Lake has touted the 1901 law, which has no exceptions for rape or incest and requires prison time for doctors. She responded to the SCOTUS decision overturning Roe by saying she supports the 1901 Arizona law and celebrated it again as a “great law” during a forum in February.
Kari Lake Is Driving a Stake Through the Arizona GOP–Kari Lake’s call for Republican unity lasted about as long as it took for her to turn around and dig a knife into the back of the Arizona GOP. She immediately abandoned Arizonans in favor of joining her fellow conspiracy theorists at a MAGA megaconference in Texas over the weekend. In contrast, Katie Hobbs launched a three-day tour of central and southern Arizona. Now Kari Lake is preparing to rally this Sunday with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis–An odd move considering there’s talk that he’s considering challenging Donald Trump.
Arizona Democratic Party Launches First TV Ad Underscoring Kari Lake’s Extreme Record–The Arizona Democratic Party has launched its first television ad highlighting Kari Lake’s extreme record. The ad, titled “Too Dangerous,” focuses on Kari Lake’s extreme, fringe record on everything from abortion to rocket launchers. The ad leads with Lake’s extremist stance on abortion and how she doesn’t support exceptions for rape or incest.
