ADP Statement on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
PHOENIX — In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, ADP Chair Raquel Terán released the following statement:

“Today we honor the life and legacy of a civil rights giant. Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated himself to the pursuit of a better nation built on the ideals of justice, equality, and opportunity for all — and now more than ever, it is clear that his work remains unfinished.

“Our work towards his ideal — a nation in which every American is created equal — is inextricably linked to voting rights. Since the height of the Civil Rights Movement and the passage of the Voting Rights Act, state legislatures — including ours right here in Arizona — have gradually chipped away at our most precious, fundamental American right: the freedom to vote.

“On this day, to recognize Dr. King is not enough. Instead, we must honor his life by reaffirming our commitment to continuing his mission. We must fight for the ideals he marched towards — all while calling out injustice, standing tall in our convictions, and working tirelessly until we finally realize the sacred dream he had for us all. We must honor his memory by passing comprehensive legislation to protect and expand those very rights that he and so many others fought for — to do any less is to allow his dream to die.”
