ARIZONA -–Today, “Kari Lake is reduced to running down to Mar-a-Lago” and “standing beside such important leading lights as Roseanne Barr” as Republicans continue to express concern about her campaign.
Kari Lake’s frequent out of state trips in her quest to stay in the “limelight” are described by Vanity Fair as a “cross-country itinerary she’s mapped out to promote her campaign [that] appears better suited for someone with national aspirations or a book to sell.”
Lake’s pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago comes after a week of Republicans going on the record saying:
- “Not sure what her path is forward […] I really don’t see a path or any money coming her way…” longtime Republican political consultant Chuck Coughlin told Laurie Roberts.
- “Kari Lake looks increasingly like she isn’t a candidate that can win,” according to Republican consultant Barret Marson.
- “I don’t know one person that she’s gotten on her side of the people who she offended,” and “There’s nobody from my circle that she’s gained, and she’s even alienated some previous supporters, too, who I know.” said Kathy Petsas, a former local party chair in Kari Lake’s home legislative district.
- “What’s odd is that she says one thing one day and then acts completely counter to that the next,” a Republican strategist with ties to Arizona said.
Arizona pundits and journalists note that “Lake’s plan seems to be to rage her way into the U.S. Senate, but thus far it doesn’t seem as if the deep pockets within the GOP are convinced that’s a winning campaign strategy” and “She’s not winning back the mainstream Republicans she says are coming back to her, but now you’re seeing some of the more hardcore Lake supporters, the base, the real current Trump base saying, ‘You know, I’m not sure about this.’”.”
