ARIZONA -– Last night, Kari Lake delivered a “scorched earth” speech at the Republican National Convention, and in a combative post-speech interview asked “what is true?” in response to a question about her failed lawsuits in her attempt to overthrow the results of the 2022 election.

Lake’s speech was a “blistering attack” that left reporters observing “if there was a unity memo, Kari Lake didn’t get it” but instead “burned it.”

  • Arizona Republic Opinion: Kari Lake uses her Republican National Convention speech to increase her support by 0. “It was a made-for-MAGA moment — certainly not the stuff of a candidate who desperately needs to figure out a way to appeal to those McCain Republicans and independents she spent three years savaging.”
  • Phoenix New Times: In her RNC speech, Kari Lake played the same tired MAGA hits. “After years of campaigning, we’re all still waiting for Lake to say something new, such as ‘I lost the 2022 election.’”

Mark Curtis: “These are all truths. These are all truths.”

Kari Lake: “What is true?”

Mark Curtis: “What is true? You’ve had one failed election lawsuit after another. Everything has been disproven and yet you continue to file suit after suit and you currently have a new suit in front of the Arizona Supreme Court.”

Kari Lake: “I’m really glad that…” [Crosstalk]

Mark Curtis: “Tell me where I’m wrong. Tell me where I’m wrong, Kari.”

Kari Lake: “I’m glad that you don’t care about election integrity. I’m glad to know you don’t care about election –”

Mark Curtis: “Of course I do. But how many times do I need it to be disproven?”

Kari Lake: “I’m telling you we’re continuing to fight.”

Mark Curtis: “But you talk about the fake news and yet one election lawsuit after another has failed, at what point does your narrative become fake news with your lawsuit once again in front of the Arizona Supreme Court?”

Kari Lake: “Well, Mark, I’m glad to know the truth about you, that you’re okay with election day being run with equipment that doesn’t work and 61% of polling locations carrying wrong ballots–”

Mark Curtis: “Kari, it’s been disproven time after time.”

Kari Lake: “I’m glad to know that you’re okay with that. I promised the people of Arizona after that election where we had so many hundreds of thousands of people disenfranchised that I would fight and take my case all the way to the Arizona Supreme Court and I have made good on that. It’s at the Arizona Supreme Court and we’ll see what happens.

Rachel Louise Just: “What made you go with the focus that you had of your speech where you’re talking about some of these divisions? So why that approach? When we did have someone who you look up to very much in Trump saying that he wanted to focus on unity?”

Kari Lake: “It’s become nothing but a bunch of social justice warriors posing as journalists when they’re really propaganda. So I understand the media, and I wanted to talk about the media.”
