Trump previously ditched Arizona 3 times, still lacks any campaign operation in AZ
June 6th, 2024
ARIZONA- White-supremacy organization Turning Point USA confirmed Donald Trump will be attending a Phoenix event, marking his first visit to Arizona in 2 years. Just last month, Trump canceled his trip to Arizona for the third time, after widespread reports the Trump campaign was struggling to afford campaign trips due to his ongoing legal challenges.
“Trump is centering his visit on white supremacists and election denialism because he believes he is above the law and has no ground to stand on with Arizonans,” said Arizona Democratic Party Chairwoman Yolanda Bejarano. “Trump has bragged about overturning Roe v. Wade, killed the bipartisan border deal and gave massive tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy– all contrary to our values and what hardworking Arizonans deserve from their President. The road to the White House this election runs through Arizona, and Trump’s extreme, MAGA agenda is exactly why voters will reject him in November.”
Donald Trump is expected to speak at Dream City Church, where just a few months ago Kari Lake was “booed at Arizona GOP meeting after forcing Chair’s resignation.” Dream City Church is also where Trump held a 3,000 person rally in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, violating the City of Phoenix’s masking mandate.
TPUSA has a long history of white supremacy and election denialism:
- Last year, two Turning Point staff members harassed and assaulted a Queer Professor at ASU. Just last month TPUSA staff “admitted guilt” in the incident. TPUSA is famous for having a watchlist for professors.
- Charlie Kirk, the organization’s leader and right wing podcaster has called for violence against transgender Americans, attacked Dr. King and civil rights, and has said “I want to make sure we all make a commitment, that if this election doesn’t go our way, the next day we’d fight.”
- TPUSA employs one of Arizona’s 11 “fake electors” and employed a Representative accused of signature fraud.
