ARIZONA -– Today’s episode of the Lake Tapes details how Kari Lake will do or say anything to gain power, including praising foreign adversaries and authoritarians and siding with those interested in “ending the United States’ role as a global power.”
New reporting this week detailed a “documented pattern of [Kari Lake’s] preference for authoritarian-led countries over her own” that includes “consistently [coming] to Putin’s defense,” praising “the coolest dictator in the world,” and supporting Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán who can now “change the constitution to suit his ambitions,” — all of which undercut our freedom and endanger Arizonans.
Let’s roll the tape on Lake’s record of supporting American adversaries:
Interviewer: “What do you make of the attacks on Tucker Carlson for interviewing a world leader like Vladimir Putin?”
Kari Lake: “I think it’s crazy. I’m wondering why journalists haven’t gone to interview him before. You know, when they interview Zelensky in Ukraine, they treat them with kid gloves, and it’s like a puff piece. And then they attack Putin. And they never say anything, you know, neutral or fair about the situation so that we can have just honest information.”
Kari Lake: “Tucker Carlson’s interview showed that Putin has been interested in talking peace.“
Kari Lake: “All of that and none of us in America are able to find out what Russia’s stance on this whole thing is. We only can get what the fake news wants to tell us. Let’s see what Putin has to say.”
Joy Reid: “Viktor Orbán, Hungary’s authoritarian dictator and current idol of the Anti-democracy right. The new Vladimir Putin just without the land grabbing obsession. The reality is Viktor Orbán is a right-wing dream for the Republicans trying to destroy our democracy from within as Europe’s leading defender of fascism abroad.”
Kari Lake’s address to CPAC Hungary 2024: “It’s a testament to the country’s first leadership of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. I had the opportunity to talk to Prime Minister Orbán and I’m not exaggerating when I say that our conversation changed my life.”
Kari Lake: “I mean, Hungary is doing things right. They have a leader who is putting the people of that country first in Viktor Orbán, and you know he’s doing the right thing when his arch enemy number one, George Soros is doing everything he can to try to topple him.”
Kari Lake: “Viktor Orbán has done an amazing job since taking power, and I was thrilled to actually be able to meet him and talk to him for quite a bit of time about how he has gone about bringing people together, working with folks here to make sure that they are helping the country and helping the citizens here. If you listen to the globalist media, you’d swear he was a dictator. It’s a bunch of lies, and I was so proud of what I saw in Hungary.”
