ROLL THE LAKE TAPES: Kari Lake Faces Questions About Her Use of Save Arizona Fund for Personal Gain in Defamation Case, IRS Complaint

Wednesday, August 28, 2024

ARIZONA -– This episode of the Lake Tapes highlights the renewed scrutiny Kari Lake is under over her misuse of Save Arizona Fund (SAF), which faces an IRS complaint, after she’s been ordered by a judge to turn over documents in the defamation case against her after “months of stalling.”

Lake and SAF “still have never turned over the financial disclosures to the IRS” creating questions about the “potentially millions of dollars that Kari Lake and advisers made off of her fraudulent election claims.”

The IRS complaint details how “Lake has been using Save Arizona Fund (SAF) as a way to fund her lawsuits that sought to overturn the results of the 2022 election” – an improper use of the organization that would be in violation of its tax-exempt status.

Kari Lake’s repeated description of SAF as her “legal fund” and solicitation of donations to “help pay for lawyers” brings into question whether she is using the organization improperly in an attempt to boost herself and gain power.

Let’s roll the tape…

Vaughn Hillyard on August 26, 2024: “One of the big things that she is being forced by the judge to turnover, that I am particularly interested in, is how much money did she raise through what is called the Save Arizona Fund after the 2022 election. She and that fund still have never turned over the financial disclosures to the IRS. We’re talking about potentially millions of dollars that Kari Lake and advisers made off of her fraudulent election claims.”

Kari Lake on December 20, 2022: “And you can find that at Save Arizona Fund, F-U-N-D.com. So you can go there and read the 70-page lawsuit. It reads like a true crime novel because it is a true crime. It is a crime what they did to the people of Arizona. And so read that, if you can make a donation, I’m not begging for donations, but if you can, to help pay our legal fees, you can do that there.

Kari Lake on December 27, 2022:Go to Save Arizona Fund, F-U-N-D. We could use help, our attorneys are working really hard, and we have to pay them. And Patriots are stepping forward to help pay for this case. They want to see us take this all the way to the Supreme Court.”

Kari Lake on June 2, 2023: “Yeah, SaveArizonaFund.com. Or you can go to KariLake.com. We have a little donate button. If you want to donate and help with our legal fees. That’s helpful. We’re going to take this to the US Supreme Court. It’s going to cost money.”

Kari Lake on November 12, 2023: “The bills add up, I mean, we’ve got attorneys that we have to pay. And people will say to me, oh, you’ve given up on the election now. How dare you? I said well, A – no, I haven’t, but I’m a multitasker. I can do more than one thing. And then I want to say back to them, but what have you done to secure elections? Are you putting your money where your mouth is? Are you, you know, donating money to some of these cases? Are you donating money to help the attorneys fees for J6ers? You know, we started Save Arizona Fund. You can go there  – .com – if you want, to help pay for it. I didn’t know where to start, but I knew that I wasn’t gonna be able to afford millions of dollars in attorneys fees. And so the people of this country started donating. And that’s important.”

Kari Lake on December 8, 2022: “Well, you can go to KariLake.com. We have set up a fund to help pay for lawyers. Lawyers don’t pay for themselves. It’s Save Arizona Fund.”

Vaughn Hillyard on August 26, 2024: “We may be looking at millions of dollars that Kari Lake through this fund was able to raise and potentially even spend for travel to Iowa, travel to Mar-a-Lago, travel for hotels. There’s a lot of questions that we as the public don’t have answers to but because of this defamation suit, we may get.
