ICYMI: Rep. Schweikert Voted Twice Against Bipartisan PACT Act –  Now Urging Arizonans to Enroll In Benefits

Insider: “[Rep. Schweikert is the] latest example of Republican lawmakers touting programs created by legislation that they voted against.”

ARIZONA– Last week, Representative Schweikert urged constituents to sign up for the benefits created by the bipartisan Honoring Our PACT Act despite voting against the legislation twice. Insider called Rep. Schweikert’s advocacy of the bill after voting against it the “latest example of Republican lawmakers touting programs created by legislation that they voted against.” The Arizona Republic called Schweikert’s move “scummy two-faced behavior.”

The Honoring Our PACT Act is critical legislation that expands VA benefits for veterans exposed to toxic chemicals. Schwiekert represents 41,000 veterans.

The Executive Director of the Arizona Democratic Party Morgan Dick released the following statement on the hypocrisy of Rep. Schweikert:

“It’s not surprising that Representative Schweikert would attempt to take credit for Arizona Democrats and the Biden-Harris administration’s historic legislation to expand healthcare access for Veterans. Arizonans know that the Arizona GOP will do anything to seem less extreme than they are by touting common sense solutions in public while trying to prevent these benefits in Congress. Voting, not once but twice, against relief for our veterans exposed to toxic chemicals is just another example of how extreme and out of touch Representative Schweikert is.”
