Charlene Fernandez: Trump’s Effort to End Mail-In Voting Proves SAVE Act Is A Partisan Gambit to Restrict Voting

March 17th, 2026

PHOENIX – Democratic Party Chair Charlene Fernandez released the following statement amid the ongoing Senate battle around the SAVE Act after President Trump announced his desire to eliminate mail-in voting:

“Congress must reject the SAVE Act that puts up unnecessary barriers that make it harder for eligible Arizonans to vote, especially women, working families, and seniors. What’s more, President Trump is proving that this is just a partisan attempt to restrict voting by urging Republicans to eliminate vote-by-mail. Arizonans of all political backgrounds support voting by mail, knowing that its secure management has led to fair and free elections in our state. I urge Congress to ignore President Trump’s clearly partisan gambit to restrict voting rights and to work to eliminate a costly war and economic policies that hurt Arizonans here at home.”
