ARIZONA- Today, Donald Trump announced Senator J.D Vance, a far-right and devout MAGA loyalist, as his VP pick. Chairwoman of the Arizona Democratic Party Yolanda Bejarano issued the following statement in response:
“J.D. Vance has a long and detailed record of extremism that doesn’t align with Arizonans values,” said Chairwoman of the Arizona Democratic Party Yolanda Bejarano. “Donald Trump picked a Vice President who is in lockstep with his extreme Project 2025 agenda of banning abortion nationwide, election denialism, and cutting Social Security and Medicare. Arizonans rejected Donald Trump in 2020 because this agenda is not how we want to move our country forward, and they will do so again this November.”
J.D. Vance’s extreme positions:
- J.D. Vance praised Project 2025 and said it has “good ideas.”
- Project 2025 is a dangerous takeover by Trump and his MAGA loyalists that rolls back Americans’ rights and freedoms, hurts the middle class, and threatens our democracy by
- Banning abortion nationwide and punishes women who get an abortion.
- Consolidating executive power in the Oval Office and defunds government agencies like the Department of Education.
- Raising taxes for the middle class while giving handouts to billionaire donors and cutting Social Security.
- Allowing employers to stop paying many workers overtime.
- Ending health care protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

- J.D. Vance is an anti-choice extremist who supports a national abortion ban and has recently blocked bills that would have codified Roe vs. Wade.
- J.D. Vance is also against rape and incest exceptions in abortion laws and called Ohio’s heartbeat bill [that bans abortion before many women know they’re pregnant], is a “good bill.”
- J.D. Vance has also pushed for an end to “no-fault” divorce.
- J.D. Vance is an election denier who still doesn’t accept the results of the 2020 election and has repeatedly said that he wouldn’t have certified the results of that election – effectively overturning American democracy as we know it.
- J.D Vance also said he was ‘skeptical’ the Vice President Mike Pence’s life was in danger on Jan. 6 and has downplayed the insurrection.
- He also retweeted a post that praised the Supreme Court decision saying the DOJ overstepped in prosecuting some J6 offenders as a “massive victory for J6 political prisoners.”
- J.D. Vance defends Marjorie Taylor Greene attending a white nationalist conference and agrees with Trump’s offensive, racist rhetoric when he says that immigrants “poison the blood of our country.”
- J.D. Vance has also praised dictators like Vladimir Putin and Hungarian dictator Viktor Orban saying that he made ‘some smart decisions’ that Americans ‘could learn from.’
- J.D. Vance supports Donald Trump’s push to “terminate” Social Security, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act.
