ADP Statement on Ducey’s Decision Not to Run in “Decidedly Weak” #AZSen Race

PHOENIX — Earlier this morning, America’s least popular GOP governor Doug Ducey made it official and announced that he would not enter Arizona’s “crowded,” “costly,” and “chaotic” GOP Senate primary.

Whether Ducey chose to sit out because of the ongoing FBI investigation into his administration or his massive Trump problem, it’s clear Ducey would have struggled in this chaotic Republican primary.

While Arizonans can celebrate today’s announcement, Washington Republicans are left with a primary field that is widely understood to be “decidedly weak” and lacking a “clear frontrunner.”

“Ducey’s decision not to run for Senate is proof that no one looms larger in this GOP Senate primary than Donald Trump, whose lies around the 2020 election have become this race’s litmus test even as Arizonans are ready to move on,” said ADP spokesperson Hannah Goss. “Ducey was widely reported to be Mitch McConnell and the NRSC’s best hope to win this Senate seat, and now Washington Republicans are left with what they have admitted is a clown-car of C-list candidates who care more about fighting each other than actually representing Arizonans.”
