“It’s very dangerous to see Kari Lake using that language”

ARIZONA -– Today’s episode of the Lake Tapes shows Kari Lake urging supporters to “strap on a Glock” because “the next six months is going to be intense,” suggesting veteran military and active and retired law enforcement should “buckle up” and be “ready for action.”
This is not the first time Lake has encouraged political violence. Last year she said: “If you want to get to President Trump, you are going to have go through me, and you are going to have to go through 75 million Americans just like me. And I’m going to tell you, most of us are card-carrying members of the N.R.A. That’s not a threat — that’s a public service announcement.”

Alex Witt: “New today, Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake telling military and law enforcement veterans to be ready as the 2024 campaign ramps up. And then she took it one step further.”
Kari Lake: “The next six months is going to be intense, and we need to strap on our… let’s see, what we want to strap on? We’re going to strap on our seatbelt… We are going to put on the armor of God. And maybe strap on a glock on the side of us, just in case.”
Elizabeth Neumann: “There is no excuse now to not understand that your words do have tremendous power and influence over individuals that might have a propensity to violence… And so it’s very dangerous to see Kari Lake using that language. And so it would be great if politicians would recognize and learn lessons from 2020. Their words do matter.”
Ayman Mohyeldin: “And then there’s failed Arizona GOP gubernatorial nominee turned Senate candidate Kari Lake. At a campaign rally last week, Lake advised supporters they can “strap on a glock” to be prepared for the 2024 campaign. She also urged military and law enforcement veterans to be ready… But that’s not how some of her own supporters interpreted her comments. One rally attendee told NBC News, “the signs are all there for the possibility of a civil war.”
