ARIZONA -– Kari Lake announced last night that she has appealed one of her election denial cases to the U.S. Supreme Court. Even as “GOP leaders urge her to look forward,” Lake continues to deny the validity of the 2020 and 2022 elections over and over. Her case has previously been described as “furthering false narratives,” “baseless,” and “reckless” – and it has resulted in over $100,000 in sanctions.
Lake is partnered with MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell whose election security plan could land people in jail and Lawrence Joseph, a lawyer who challenged the result of the 2020 election and has faced attorney discipline charges for false statements.
National Republicans publicly urged Lake to stop litigating past elections. But since her launch, Lake continues to prove she is “still an extremist” who has “reverted to more dramatic rhetoric.”
- After her launch, on October 18th, 2023, Lake said she is “not giving up the fight” to overturn the gubernatorial election.
- After her launch, on November 1st, 2023, Lake said “I’ve never quit my court cases.”
- After her launch, on November 12th, 2023, Lake said, “Yes, I agree with Steve Bannon, anyone who thinks Joe Biden won 81 million votes does not have a grip on reality.”
In February, Lake came under fire for lying and claiming she does not bring up conspiracy theories while she brought up past elections at least 7 times the same week. Read more about how Lake “just can’t help herself” but “latch on to” conspiracy theories in the past three months:
- Kari Lake on January 29th, 2024: “I’ve been seeing a lot of corruption in the Republican Party from the way our elections are run. And the people in charge of our elections here in Arizona actually have an R behind their name. That’s pretty sad.”
- Kari Lake on February 4th, 2024: “I understand. You know, some Republicans out there, they’re not my favorite Republicans, they don’t talk about the 2020 and the 2022 elections, they just don’t talk about it. We’ve got to.”
- Kari Lake on February 15th, 2024: “100%. I mean, this is why when I was running for governor, I won the nomination, and I believe the election without the fraud, and I would be sitting in the governor’s office.”
- Kari Lake on February 20th, 2024: “I’m hoping that they will, with the new leadership, acknowledge that we have not just election issues and poorly managed elections, but there’s election fraud as well, you have to just face the facts here.”
- Kari Lake on February 21st, 2024: “We’ve had more than that stolen in Arizona as you know, 2020 was a mess. 2022 was a debacle right out in front of our eyes. It was nabbed from us right in front of our eyes.”
- At the Capitol on March 5th, 2024, Lake again asserted the 2020 election was stolen and refused to answer when asked about her repeated claim that her own election was stolen.
- Kari Lake on March 10th, 2024: “No. The 2020 election, I think it was a rigged election.”
- Kari Lake on March 10th, 2024: “We had major problems in our election, and we’re really working to resolve those problems. We still have some court cases.”
