Arizona Democratic Party Statement On State Of The Union

Ahead of tonight’s State of the Union address, Arizona Democratic Party Chair Felecia Rotellini issued the following statement:

“To anyone watching, it’s clear that Washington is deeply broken — and Arizonans are tired of it. Drug companies continue to increase prices without consequences, erratic trade policies are hurting our farmers, hardworking families are struggling to get ahead, and our planet is in the midst of a climate crisis. And in Washington, Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress like Martha McSally are working overtime for their corporate interest backers, while hardworking Arizonans are left behind.

Republicans have spent the past three years driving up health care costs and gifting tax cuts to big corporations and billionaires.  Now they’re pushing AHCCCS caps and floating deep cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

Enough with the broken promises: In 2020, we will elect leaders who will put Arizonans first by fighting for our values, expanding health care access, taking on prescription drug companies, investing in our public schools, and strengthening hard-earned benefits like Social Security and Medicare. We will ensure that the major issues facing our state are addressed by leaders with integrity and common-sense solutions.

The path to victory runs through Arizona in 2020, and we are working hard to make sure this is the last State of the Union address from Donald Trump.”
