Release: Under Biden’s Leadership, Economy Booms
U.S. adds two million jobs since Biden took office, with unemployment reaching its lowest level since the pandemic began
PHOENIX –– According to this morning’s Department of Labor jobs report, the U.S. added 559,000 jobs in the month of May as unemployment reached its lowest level since the pandemic started.
In the four months since President Joe Biden took office, more than two million jobs were created—averaging out to 540,000 jobs added every month since the administration went to work. What’s more: The long-term unemployment rate saw the biggest one-month decline since 2011 as President Biden’s American Rescue Plan continues to bolster and sustain our economic recovery.
“Today’s strong jobs report makes it clear: President Biden’s economic agenda is working. With job growth soaring, vaccination rates rising, and COVID cases dwindling, it’s far past time for Republicans in Congress to start working with their Democratic colleagues to deliver for Arizona families and businesses,” said ADP Chair Raquel Terán. “As we continue to build back our economy, congressional Republicans can either sit on the sidelines or join Democrats to deliver relief to their constituents—and that starts with passing the American Families Plan and the American Jobs Plan.”
Building on this historic economic recovery, President Biden and Democrats in Congress continue to move forward with the second phase of Democrats’ plan to lift up struggling families and help businesses build back stronger.
The American Jobs Plan will provide a once-in-a-generation investment to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure and create millions of good-paying jobs in the process while the American Families Plan—a comprehensive package to strengthen American education and childcare infrastructure—will finally give families the resources and support they need to thrive.
