Release: Michael Muscato Will Be A Unifier For CD08

PHOENIX – Voters in CD08 have five days to decide if they want two more years of Rep. Debbie Lesko’s placation to Trump and harmful voting record or if they’re ready to usher in Michael Muscato, an Arizona native and small business owner committed to solving the challenging issues facing the people of CD08.

Rep. Lesko has had ample time to prove herself and has shown she’s only interested in appeasing the Trump Administration and special interest groups. Lesko has voted in favor of Trump’s position 96% of the time, and for months she has been enabling his disastrous handling of COVID-19. Lesko’s judgment on campaign finance law in her last campaign has also come under fire. In 2018 she moved $50,000 from her state Senate campaign to a federal political-action committee that supported her, a move many claimed was illegal. Yet she was still elected.

Michael Muscato believes in accountability and that the role of a Congressional Representative is to represent the people of their district, regardless of political party. It’s in that spirit that he is focused on working across the aisle to solve problems and bring people together. Muscato will be a Congressman who speaks to and for everyone in CD08 and, unlike Lesko, won’t cave to special interest groups.

When it comes to healthcare, Lesko has a terrible record. Not only has she voted against nearly every COVID-19 relief bill, she also infamously voted against protecting Arizonans with pre-existing conditions; and Lesko is on record saying she would vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act. In 2019, Democrats passed H.R.3, legislation that would substantially reduce prescription drug prices and expand access to health care benefits. But Lesko voted against the bill, proving she was more interested in protecting Big Pharma than her constituents.

In contrast, Muscato knows that healthcare is a basic human right. In Congress, he’ll work to make health care more accessible and affordable, and he will protect those with pre-existing conditions. Unlike his opponent, Muscato is running on a platform of lowering the cost of prescription medications.

“Rep. Lesko has been nothing but a rubber stamp for the Trump Administration and her voting record has been harmful to her constituents,” said Matt Grodsky, Arizona Democratic Party spokesman, “Michael Muscato is focused on getting things done, not playing political games. His campaign is about doing what’s best for CD08 and he’ll do the work Lesko has refused to address. Voters have a clear choice on Tuesday, electing Michael Muscato means positive change for them and their district.”
