Release: Investigate Biggs & Gosar Now. If Guilty, They Must Be Expelled From Congress

PHOENIX – The Arizona Democratic Party is calling on the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the appropriate Congressional committees to investigate the disturbing allegations regarding Representatives Biggs and Gosar and their potential roles in plotting last week’s act of insurrection. If investigations show that these men helped plan or aid the assault on the nation’s Capitol in any way, they should be removed from Congress and face legal action.

Not only has evidence emerged of Biggs and Gosar as possible planners of the deadly riot on January 6th, but also social media posts and videos of past events that tie the two men to the known organizers and to this radical insurgency.

One of the top organizers of the movement that sought to overturn the election, Ali Alexander, claimed in a viral video last week that he worked closely with the Republican Congressmen to plan the January 6th event. “We four schemed up of putting maximum pressure on Congress while they were voting,” The plan, Alexander said, was to “change the hearts and the minds of Republicans who were in that body, hearing our loud roar from outside.” He added, “If we don’t embrace Trumpism, the party is quite literally dead.”

At a December 19th rally in Phoenix, Alexander played a video message from Rep. Biggs, referring to him as a “friend” and “hero.” In the recording, Biggs stated that he wished he could have attended the event and vowed to challenge the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral victory, “When it comes to January 6th I’ll be right there in the congress with my friend Mo Brooks and dozens of others as we look at the results across this country.” Alexander led the crowd in the chant “Biggs, Biggs, Biggs”.

At the same event, headliner Rep. Gosar falsely promised the crowd that the election results could still be overturned. “Freedom isn’t cheap, folks. Freedom isn’t cheap, but you know what? Imagine this, that you get to go back home once we conquer the hill. Donald Trump is returned to being President and amazing things will happen for four more years.” Gosar called the courts that ruled against Trump “pathetic” and challenged the crowd to show the country what they are made of – stating “live free or die.”

“Biggs and Gosar’s unabashed support of Trump’s big lie already warrants resignation from Congress,” said Matt Grodsky, Arizona Democratic Party spokesman, “But if they had a hand in planning the attack on January 6th, they should be held accountable.”
