Release: A Tale of Two Summers: Arizona Adds More Jobs, Personal Income Rises as Biden’s Recovery Continues to Lift Working Families
PHOENIX –– According to this morning’s U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs report, Arizona added another 12,800 jobs last month as the economy continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic under the leadership of President Joe Biden.
In addition, according to data from the nonpartisan Bureau of Economic Analysis, personal income in Arizona rose by a whopping 68.5% in the first three months of 2021. This spike in personal income—nearly all of which is a result of federal relief from President Biden’s American Rescue Plan—is helping Arizona families get back on their feet after a difficult year.
Despite GOP efforts to deny our ongoing rebound, the clear and consistent trend of ongoing economic recovery is undeniable. This time last year, the state unemployment rate was 4 percentage points higher than it is today as businesses reeled from the pandemic, the corresponding economic downturn, and a troubling lack of leadership in the White House. As we head into summer with healthy projections of further economic growth, it is clear that the Biden-Harris administration’s recovery plan is working.
“President Biden’s historic investment in working families and local businesses under the American Rescue Plan continues to pay dividends across Arizona,” said ADP Spokesperson Hannah Goss. “Democrats’ multi-pronged approach to rebuilding our economy from the ground up and middle out is working, even despite Republicans’ attempts to hobble Biden’s recovery efforts. The Republican members of Arizona’s congressional delegation may try to hide the fact they voted against the incredibly popular rescue plan, but Arizona voters will remember their dereliction of duty at the ballot box next November.”
