SHOT/CHASER: Trump Adds Proposed Medicare Cuts To His Record of Broken Promises

SHOT

“Ben Carson wants to get rid of Medicare. You can’t get rid of Medicare. You know, Medicare’s a program that works. There’s fraud, there’s abuse, there’s waste, but you don’t get rid of Medicare. You can’t do that. People love Medicare. And it’s unfair to them. I’m going to fix it and make it better, but I’m not going to cut it.” – Donald J. Trump [Hannity, Fox News, 11/3/15]

CHASER:

In a recent interview with CNBC’s Joe Kernan, Trump let it be known that Medicare is on the chopping block despite previously campaigning on protecting these vital programs:

Joe Kernan: Entitlements ever be on your plate?

Donald Trump: At some point they will be…. And at the right time, we will take a look at that.

Arizona Democratic Party spokesperson Matt Grodsky issued the following statement:

Arizonans know all too well Donald Trump can’t be trusted to keep his promises – especially when it comes to protecting their hard-earned benefits. Nearly 1.3 million Arizonans with Medicare coverage would be drastically impacted by the Trump administration cuts and that’s just unacceptable. Arizonans can’t afford four more years of Trump’s attacks on Medicare and must hold him accountable this November.”
