Julian Lehrer was a fourth-year Political Science major at Arizona State University. A lifelong Democrat, he decided to dedicate his career to politics after the election of Donald Trump in 2016. Julian first worked as an intern for Heather Ross, candidate in CD 6 for Congress in 2018. Then, he was a Fellow with the Arizona Democratic Party and helped elect Senator Kyrsten Sinema and Democrats up and down the ballot in 2018. In mid-2019, Julian was selected to participate in Organizing Corps 2020, a DNC training program that prepares college seniors to work as field organizers in battleground states for the 2020 general election. He served as the President of the Arizona State University Young Democrats until an unfortunate injury compelled him to resign, Julian’s chief objective was to empower Sun Devils to flip Arizona blue in 2020 and to elect Democrats across the state. Julian passed away in July 2020.
In honor of Julian Lehrer and his dedication to making sure everyone has a voice and equal rights and opportunities, the Arizona Democratic Party has created an Internship Scholarship Program in his name. Julian was passionate about connecting students with civic engagement, this paid internship will ensure that all students, no matter their background, can participate in shaping their democracy.
To be eligible for this Program, a candidate must show the following attributes:
A Track Record Of:
Extensive volunteer work, activism, and advocacy and / or work experience on a political campaign.
A Desire To Serve:
Through aspirations to be involved in Democratic politics after the internship and college graduation.

Exhibiting participation in activities designed to enhance ASU and the rights and opportunities of its students and participation in mobilizing students to get involved in politics and to vote for Democrats.
