PHOENIX – Governor Ducey continues to take heat for his Wednesday press conference and the days since in which he has failed to put down baseless far-right conspiracy theories about the general election results. Despite all ballots having been counted in Arizona, Ducey has not acknowledged that President-elect Joe Biden won the state and has not refuted the baseless claims of fraud. This is signaling other elected Arizona Republicans to keep up their baseless antics.
In an op-ed published in the Arizona Republic by several former Republican elected officials and senior staff members, they urge for a smooth transition for the good of the country.
As former Republican office holders and senior staff here in Arizona, we can tell you that transitioning into government that effectively serves its citizens starts before you are sworn in.
From the COVID-19 pandemic to rebuilding our economy, we are facing several serious challenges as a country. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris must be allowed to transition properly into government so that they can do the work they were elected to do and tackle these issues.
Not all of us voted for the Biden-Harris ticket. We won’t agree with every decision they will make. But the election is over. The results are clear. The time to heal from our partisan divisions and allow our president-elect and vice president-elect the chance to effectively govern starts now.
