Coverage: Martha McSally Criticized For Saying Supporters Can
“Fast A Meal” To Donate To Her Campaign, Amid Economic Crisis
McSally: “I’m not ashamed to ask […] If you can give a dollar, five dollars, if you can fast a meal and give what that would be.”
PHOENIX — Martha McSally is facing widespread criticism for asking supporters to “fast a meal” to donate to her campaign amid a pandemic and an economic crisis during which tens of millions of Americans don’t have enough to eat — and Senate Republicans have failed to lead.
Unsurprisingly, McSally was widely criticized for her out-of-touch comments that highlight Senate Republicans’ failure to lead. And one former Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate said McSally’s remarks are “an act of desperation.”
