Biden to Literally Build Back Better In Arizona With Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal
PHOENIX –– Last week, President Biden and Democrats in Congress finalized the details for a once-in-a-generation investment in Arizona’s communities that will help transform physical infrastructure across the state.
“Infrastructure is something that impacts us all, which is exactly why President Joe Biden built a bridge across the aisle to create a historic infrastructure package that works for everyone,” said ADP spokesperson Hannah Goss. “Now, it’s time for Congress to deliver on a package that will better the lives of every single Arizonan—and Democrats and Republicans alike should vote in favor of this landmark deal.”
The deal, which is advancing in the Senate on a bipartisan basis, would address some of the state’s most pressing needs including:
Rebuilding poor-quality roads, especially in rural communities:
- The last month of flooding across the state has exposed cracks in transportation infrastructure from Flagstaff to Nogales to the Navajo Nation.
- This deal will invest $110 billion to repair and rebuild roads across the country with a focus on climate change mitigation, resilience, equity, and safety.
Investing in passenger rail:
- For decades, Arizonans have been clamoring for passenger rail service between the state’s two metro areas: Tucson and Phoenix.
- This package makes the largest federal investment in passenger rail since the creation of Amtrak and would make dream projects like Phoenix-Tucson train service a reality.
Building and expanding sustainable public transit projects:
- As Maricopa County continues to boom, expansion of public transit options such as the light rail and the Tempe streetcar are essential and boost local economies.
- This deal would make the largest federal investment in public transit ever with $39 billion to fund innovative projects such as the light rail.
