NEW: Over 100 Arizona Moms Launch “Moms Against Kari Lake”

Bipartisan group of mothers from across Arizona mobilize to defeat Lake, calling her “too dangerous for Arizona”

Wednesday, September 25th, 2024

ARIZONA -– Today, over 100 mothers and grandmothers from across Arizona launched the “Moms Against Lake” coalition, denouncing Kari Lake’s dangerous and self-serving brand of extremism that hurts Arizona families.

Arizona women know that Kari Lake will do or say anything to gain power, even if it means hurting Arizonans by supporting abortion bans, opposing protections for IVF, calling for a 75% cut to the federal budget, and pushing dangerous conspiracy theories.

Paloma Greenwald, Registered Nurse with 25 years in healthcare, military spouse and mother: “I personally need to trust and invest my vote in a candidate who expresses empathy and compassion and I have yet to find those qualities in Kari Lake. Lake’s proposal to gut the federal budget by 75% is a gut punch, and is a disgrace to our elders, to our service members who sacrifice their lives and well being. To put it plainly, Kari Lake is out of touch.”

Laura Masters, MSW, LCSW, Arizona Native: “It is a shock to me to realize that if we elect Kari Lake, women won’t have the right to immediate care or emergency reproductive healthcare. I would have died if not for receiving immediate life-supporting care. In 2024, Kari Lake wants to take us back to 1864 when a territorial law was passed banning abortions –  we cannot elect a woman who has no compassion, empathy, or insight about women’s complex healthcare needs. We need congressional representation for women, equality for women, and support for women’s healthcare. We don’t need this in Arizona; Kari Lake is dangerous for Arizona’s health.”

Kerry Baker, governing board member, mom of 7: “Let me count the reasons I don’t support Kari Lake: She’s a grifter who only cares about herself. She supports a total abortion ban that would have a disastrous impact on women’s healthcare. She is an election denier who fought her gubernatorial loss in court with no evidence to back her up. She would put school funding at risk with her 75% cut to the federal budget proposal. Kari Lake wants to destabilize women’s healthcare, reject democracy, and threaten school funding. That’s not an Arizona I want my kids to live in. I could go on and on but ultimately Kari Lake is just too extreme and power hungry to hold office. We can’t trust her.”

Kari Lake can’t be trusted to represent Arizona mothers in the U.S. Senate because she has shown she will do or say anything to gain power including:

  • Putting her own desire for power above democracy by continuing to contest the 2022 election she lost.
  • Proposing a 75 percent cut to the federal budget that would cause catastrophic reductions in services.
