2012 Democratic National Convention

The Democratic National Convention is a convention held to determine the Democratic Presidential Candidate. The 2012 Democratic National Convention will take place on the week of September 3, 2012 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Arizona will send 80 delegates and 6 alternates to attend the convention and nominate a Democratic presidential candidate.

The first step in determining these delegates was on March 31, 2012 during District-level Caucuses. At this caucus, Democratic voters were able to indicate their preference for a presidential nominee. Afterwards, Precinct Committeepersons will select delegates to the national convention.

Introduction

1) What is the final word on the delegate selection process?

The Arizona Selection Plan approved by the Democratic National Committee dated March 16, 2011 is the final word on the process.

2) How many delegates are sent from Arizona?

There are 80 delegates and 6 alternates.

3) Is there a cost to participate in the Caucus selection?

There is no cost to participate but contributions to the Party are optional.

Pledged Party Leader and Elected Official (PLEO), At-Large and Alternate delegates were elected by the Arizona Democratic Party State Committee in April, 21, 2012. This took place at ASU Preparatory Academy, 735 East Fillmore Street, Phoenix, AZ 85006
