Statement on the president's speech on the American Jobs Act

Andrei Cherny, Arizona Democratic Party chairman, released the following statement in response to President Obama’s strong push today for passing the American Jobs Act to help fund our nation's schools:

“Arizona’s schools are among the hardest hit in the country, so we applaud the president’s efforts to pass the American Jobs Act. This will keep teachers in the classroom and upgrade schools right here in Arizona. We have to invest in our students today because tomorrow they will be the innovators and entrepreneurs who will lead our country.

“Congress can’t delay any longer. We call on Arizona’s Republican congressmen to put political gamesmanship aside and support legislation that helps so many Arizonans. They can start by taking a stand against GOP leaders who are trying to stop the bill from going anywhere in Congress. This is unacceptable. It’s time to pass the American Jobs Act now.”
